Tanemahuta

Tāne Mahuta is the revered Māori god (atua) of the forest, birds, and all living things within them. As a son of Ranginui (Sky Father) and Papatūānuku (Earth Mother), he is best known for separating his parents to bring light (Te Ao Marama) into the world. He also fashioned the first human and retrieved the three baskets of knowledge.
