Haumietiketike

NZ$200.00

In Māori mythology, Haumia-tiketike (often simply Haumia) is the atua (god or deity) of wild and uncultivated food. He is primarily associated with the aruhe (bracken fern root), which was a vital staple in the traditional Māori diet. During the forced separation of his parents, Haumia and Rongo were vulnerable to the rage of their brother Tāwhirimātea (god of storms). To protect them, Papatūānuku (the Earth) hid them within her own body.
